You will find the parish of St. Mellion on the A388 half way between Saltash and Callington. In recent years, St.
Mellion has become famous for the international golf course which attracts many visitors. Situated in the deanery and
Hundred of East, it is part of the St. German’s registration district and is close to St. Dominick and Pillaton. Other
near by parishes are Quethiock, Botus Fleming, Callington, St. Ive, Landrake and Calstock.
St. Mellion Church
St. Mellion church is in the centre of the village, just off the main road and was built in
the reign of Edward 1. It was dedicated by the Bishop of Exeter in 1259. The patron saint, St. Mellanus was a Breton who became
a Bishop of Rennes in the 6th century. He was buried at Rennes and his feast day is celebrated on November 6th. The church
contains memorials and inscriptions to the Coryton family who lived in Pentillie Castle in nearby Pillaton.
